PRIX JEUNESSE INTERNATIONAL

The competition

The finalist programmes are selected by an international preselection jury of experts in various aspects of children’s media. The competition has six main categories – fiction and non-fiction across three target audience age groups. In addition, there are awards for the best short videos, a theme prize (for “Media Literacy” content in 2026), a gender equity honor for an innovative approach to gender roles, and special prizes from UNICEF and UNESCO. Young people have a say, also, in the German Children’s Jury and International Youth Jury awards.

Your festival week experience in Munich

Discussing quality: PRIX JEUNESSE is a workshop festival. All participants watch the finalists’ programs together and discuss them in moderated groups. This exchange of opinions with colleagues from all over the world makes the PRIX JEUNESSE festival week an unparalleled opportunity to look beyond one’s own horizons.

Peer-voted awards: PRIX JEUNESSE winners aren’t chosen behind closed doors, but by all accredited participants. Those who care about high-quality children’s screen media are encouraged to not “just” attend the festival, but to share their voices and votes.

Research findings and learning from top creators: Info sessions during the festival week explore new, relevant children and media research findings. Additionally, creators of outstanding programmes give insights into their motivations, strategies and production secrets in “how did you do that?” sessions.

A unique networking opportunity: Children’s media creators from all continents come together at PRIX JEUNESSE INTERNATIONAL, opening up excellent networking opportunities. Social events help you make new “worldwide friends” with your fellow children’s media enthusiasts.

The next PRIX JEUNESSE INTERNATIONAL will take place from 29 May – 3 June 2026 at the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation in Munich, Germany.
