PRIX JEUNESSE 2024 Preselection: Kids’ TV marathon
Starting Friday, 12th December, the preselection for the PRIX JEUNESSE INTERNATIONAL takes place in Munich. Nine international judges are gearing up to review 112 hours of children’s programmes in just under a week.
Imagine living the dream of watching children’s programs non-stop for days, and not just any, but the best from the past two years worldwide. This dream comes true for nine international children’s TV experts who make up the preselection jury for PRIX JEUNESSE INTERNATIONAL 2024. By the end of the preselection, they need to select around 90 programmes for the finals from a total of 406 submissions. The PRIX JEUNESSE festival week will take place from May 24th to 29th in Munich, with approximately 400 international children’s TV experts expected to attend.
Since 1964, the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation has hosted the children’s TV festival every two years. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the competition. PRIX JEUNESSE INTERNATIONAL is the oldest and most prestigious festival of its kind: in the global children’s TV scene, the event is synonymous with high quality in children’s programming.
This year’s preselection judges come from Argentina, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, Norway, Slovenia, Thailand, and the United States. All of them are experienced children’s TV experts, many in leadership positions in their networks or companies. Plus, they have been familiar with PRIX JEUNESSE INTERNATIONAL for many years, understanding its high-quality standards and festival philosophy.
The jurors will evaluate the programmes based on originality, innovation, and creativity. The goal is to compile an inspiring selection that challenges participants during the festival week and advances their understanding of quality children’s TV. Each participant should leave the festival week with a head full of fresh ideas to offer the youngest audience the highest quality content.
The jury’s results will be published on our website after the preselection.
