Report on a virtual PJ Get-Together
What are the exciting and innovative projects in development in worldwide children’s TV, and what are the newest research findings in the field of news for children? These two questions were in the centre of the first virtual PRIX JEUNESSE conference that took place on 14/15th June 2021. Over 400 children’s media experts from all continents joined for this virtual get-together.
Theme of day 1 was “They Deserve to Know: News for Children”, with a look into questions like what are the subjects that children consider as truly relevant. Through a mix of presentations and best-practice examples participants could get interesting insights on how quality journalism for children can work.
Day 2 was dedicated to the newest projects of winners and runners-up of PRIX JEUNESSE INTERNATIONAL 2020. In 16 impressive presentations successful children’s TV experts reported on their current projects. Among them were JJ Johnson from Sinking Ship, Canada, winner of the children’s jury prize for the series “Ghostwriter” who gave the audience a first glimpse into the newest productions of his company. The successful team of NRK Super’s winning show for pre-schoolers, “The Minikids” (Norway) talked about the third season of their successful series. The animation company Magic Light Pictures from the UK, winners of several PRIX JEUNESSE awards, reported on their first preschool project “Pip and Posy”. We look forward to getting to see some of these exciting works at next PRIX JEUNESSE INTERNATIONAL which will take place from 10 – 15 June 2022. The deadline for entries is 9th December 2021.
